Region A - Poetry page

Birds are singing, a breeze is blowing
New buds are on the trees,
Time to unwind and slow a bit
And stop acting like busy bees.

So now I’m sitting and sipping my tea
On my front porch swing,
I’m so happy to be alive
Life is a beautiful thing.

With this clear mind can surely see
I must thank God everyday,
For being allowed to live this life
In the good old USA.

MORE THAN FUN

Never ending sunshine
Yes, it’s all very nice,
For one could easily get used to
This sea of paradise.

Lying in the sunshine
Dipping in the pool,
If anyone dare complain,
They’d surely be called a fool.

Yet there’s more to life than this,
Like helping our fellow man,
Because there’s so much suffering
That perhaps god didn’t plan.

Oh yes we should enjoy
The pleasures of life that are near,
But we never must forget
Why god has put us here.

WHAT A RIDE!!

They told me to sit down
And not to move at all
And to do as Jimmy says
So we wouldn’t take a fall

So I climbed up on the back
of Jimmy and Kathy’s wing
And as I held on pretty tight
Jimmy made it sing

Yes the Florida drill team
Is always quite a sight
But from the back seat of the wing
It is really slow and tight!!

Their hard work and training
Surely shows on through
For their performance entertains us all
As they show us what they can do

So if I get a chance
I’d love to do a repeat
But only if Kathy would let me
Occupy her seat!!

A FUN FILLED WEEKEND IN FLORIDA

What beautiful cycles you rode to our rally
And what gorgeous weather we had
Lots of games were played and prizes were won
And the winner of the wing was so glad!

Pizza was aplenty and so were the snacks
As we tried to fill you in many ways
And poodle skirts were seen all around
As the sock hop brought back the good old days

Vendors offered a variety of stuff
As we doled out a lot of money
And as we watched the talent show unfold
Some of us were even funny!

A lot of people were trained during our rally
And learned a lot of things
Cpr and first aid and dealing with heat
And group riding on our pretty gold wings

Chapters showed their pride and strutted their stuff
As collages and banners adorned the walls
The drill team performed and put us in awe
Without a hint of any close calls!

So thanks for attending and joining in the fun
We will have even more next year
Until then we will see you on down the road
That you can never fear!!

The 2001 Florida CD Conference

Most all staff came and fun we had
Learned a bit and we're so glad.

So nice to put a face with a name
So glad all the Chapters staffs that came.

GWRRA is one of a kind
And Florida is #1 in our mind

Thanks to all who made it great

Young to the End

Did you catch the smile on the old man’s face,
like the one on a boy in his Teddy Bear’s embrace?
He walked so proudly as he looked all ‘round
to see who was watching his delight, so profound.

His boots were old and scuffed, a well used sign,
being purposely pulled from the closet by design.
The by-gone days of hard use and wear,
the missing eyelet, the tongue with a tear.

His gloves had seen some hard use, too,
one finger was gone and one was askew.
The palms a rich brown from the handle of some tool,
the ones he had worn when young trying to look cool.

His pleasure was obvious to those who cared see
why he was at this moment in pure ecstasy.
He was ready to dance, and even to sing,
because he’d just ridden his first GoldWing.

Jim and Margie thanks to you both
And your able Region “A” Staff
The party you put on in Helen
Was full of fun and laughs

All of your hard work
To put Region “A” on top
Is surely appreciated by us all
